Welcome Jim Ream to the Tapestry Staff
We welcome Jim Ream to the Tapestry church staff as our official Technical Director. We are so blessed for his knowledge and expertise.
I am honored to join the staff of Tapestry Church in this new official designation as Technical Director. We have a great history of dedicated individuals who have envisioned, managed, and operated our ever-changing technology, video, audio, and broadcast. I have pleasant memories helping Harold Graham with our audio system in my early membership with SCC and have always tried to honor his care and dedication to using technology to support and strengthen the mission and message of our church. When I was in seminary and realized that pastoral ministry was not my calling, I always said what I really wanted to do was be a church technical director. Unfortunately, at that time, that wasn’t an option and I got a lot of blank stares and polite “that’s interesting” comments. I feel strongly that technology should not be the end product but rather support and enhance our work and our message as a church. As technology changes and improves we will do our best to be good stewards of Tapestries resources in support of our ministries, to be knowledgeable in new technologies, and make changes and choices carefully. I don’t see holographic worship in our near future but who knows.
We have a talented and dedicated technology team and I thank them for their “behind-the-scenes” work to bring our worship, music, and message to as many people as possible. We need twice as many volunteers as we did a few years ago and they need a break sometimes. We can always use your help. No experience is needed. Training will be provided. If we have a larger team the responsibilities can be shared, so no one gets burned out. You could also help us by donating an old iPad that you have around the house. We have been very good at making use of old electronics, including two donated older iPads and an old MacBook. Maybe you got a new one recently and your old one still has some life. The iPads are used for audio control and video sources and the old MacBook is our slide/video source. Unfortunately, the iPads need to be the later models with lightning connectors (the smaller iPhone type) and the capability to run the Apple Keynote app. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to help.
