Romans 12:1-18
12 So, brothers and sisters, because of God’s mercies, I encourage you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. This is your appropriate priestly service. 2 Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature. 3 Because of the grace that God gave me, I can say to each one of you: don’t think of yourself more highly than you ought to think. Instead, be reasonable since God has measured out a portion of faith to each one of you. 4 We have many parts in one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function. 5 In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in Christ, and individually we belong to each other. 6 We have different gifts that are consistent with God’s grace that has been given to us. If your gift is prophecy, you should prophesy in proportion to your faith. 7 If your gift is service, devote yourself to serving. If your gift is teaching, devote yourself to teaching. 8 If your gift is encouragement, devote yourself to encouraging. The one giving should do it with no strings attached. The leader should lead with passion. The one showing mercy should be cheerful. 9 Love should be shown without pretending. Hate evil, and hold on to what is good. 10 Love each other like the members of your family. Be the best at showing honor to each other. 11 Don’t hesitate to be enthusiastic—be on fire in the Spirit as you serve the Lord! 12 Be happy in your hope, stand your ground when you’re in trouble, and devote yourselves to prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of God’s people, and welcome strangers into your home. 14 Bless people who harass you—bless and don’t curse them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and cry with those who are crying. 16 Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better than anyone else. Instead, associate with people who have no status. Don’t think that you’re so smart. 17 Don’t pay back anyone for their evil actions with evil actions, but show respect for what everyone else believes is good. 18 If possible, to the best of your ability, live at peace with all people.

All Tapestry Youth and their parents are invited to our Fall Youth Kick-Off at Zip City! This will give everyone a chance to meet our new Director of Youth Ministries, Ryan Meek. We’ll also outline some steps forward, provide a fall calendar, and have some fun together.

Who: All youth (middle and high school) and parents

Due to several factors, we made the decision to reschedule WEAVE for this Sunday, September 12th, immediately following the traditional worship service (11:45ish) next door at Johnson's BBQ.
This format will be a little more relaxed and conversational, so I hope you will consider joining us.

Tapestry is 'Here 4 U'!
As another school year gets into full swing, our Tapestry youth are participating in their schools' and other activities.
The 'Here 4 U' Ministry at Tapestry Church is eager to support our youth's involvement provided by the schools and private organizations of Johnson County and the Indianapolis southside. We will support our youth's involvement in sports, the arts, and other extracurricular activities by sponsoring and or advertising at their special events.

The People’s Book Club
Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, September 21st from 6:30 to 8pm at the home of Nina Eads. Hopefully, the weather will allow us to sit on the back porch, so those who are concerned about indoor meetings won't have to be. The book that the group chose at our last meeting is "People We Meet on Vacation" by Emily Henry. The description is short: Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love. Sounds like a fun light-hearted read!
We will discuss the book as well as decide what 4 books we will be reading in our every other month get-togethers (November, January, March, and May). If you have any suggestions, please bring them with you.
Anyone is welcome to come! Bring a friend! We will have light snacks and great conversation! We hope to see you on September 21st!
Bells and Ukuleles

REMINDER!
At both of our weekly worship services, we have multiple options for our children. We have a pray-ground area for kids near the musicians, where kids can play safely with provided resources. We also offer a Sunday School during the sermon with an alternative lesson and activities. If you are in need of a nursery (for ages 0-2), one can be provided with advanced notice. During the months of August and September, Tapestry will be collecting donations for Westwood Elementary Weekend Bags. There is a great need for juice boxes as well as the following:
- Mac n cheese bowls or Chef Boyardee bowls (No cans please)
- Granola bars
- Fruit cups
Assistance Information for
Afghan Refugees at Camp Atterbury
We are all aware by now that thousands of refugees are arriving at Camp Atterbury, and many of us want to know how we can assist our neighbors from Afghanistan. My church, Trafalgar Christian Church is just ten miles from the base, so we were eager to get involved. I have been in contact with a representative of Team Rubicon, the volunteer organization that is working in partnership with the National Guard at Atterbury. When we spoke today, he informed me that there are now 4,800 refugees on the base; they expect that number to increase to 7,000 by Monday. The needs are overwhelming as most arrivals have nothing but the clothes they are wearing, and many children are arriving without shoes.
Here is how you can help meet the immediate needs of these new arrivals:
1) Consider joining Team Rubicon. This national organization is made up of tens of thousands of volunteers; about 70% are veterans. Members of Team Rubicon are the only volunteers who will be allowed to work directly with the refugee population on the base. You can learn about the application and training process here: https://teamrubiconusa.org/.
2) Donate needed items to Atterbury through Team Rubicon. Only new items will be accepted as they do not have sufficient people-power to sort through used goods. The most urgent need right now is for shoes and culturally appropriate clothing. A member of the local Muslim community has assisted in creating a guide sheet to help with the selection of culturally appropriate apparel (attached here). You will also find attached Team Rubicon's list of other items needed at Atterbury.
How to get your purchases to the Camp Atterbury
- In a few days, Team Rubicon will make an Amazon list available from which you can shop and have goods sent directly to the base. We will share how to locate that list when it becomes available.
- Team Rubicon has a warehouse just outside the base where purchased items may be delivered. Our Team Rubicon contact has asked that we not publicize or share that address due to security concerns, so Trafalgar Christian and Union Christian (Franklin, IN) will serve as drop-off points for donations and will deliver them to the warehouse.
- To leave a donation at Union (1331 E. 300 S., Franklin), please make arrangements with Rev. Mark Parkinson at 765-744-9772.
- To leave a donation at Trafalgar (300 W. Pearl St., Trafalgar), please contact Kyrmen Rea at 317-408-9782.
