22 Then Paul stood in front of the Areopagus and said, “Athenians, I see how extremely religious you are in every way. 23 For as I went through the city and looked carefully at the objects of your worship, I found among them an altar with the inscription, ‘To an unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it, he who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by human hands, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mortals life and breath and all things. 26 From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, 27 so that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him—though indeed he is not far from each one of us. 28 For ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we too are his offspring.’ 29 Since we are God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals. 30 While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.” 32 When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed; but others said, “We will hear you again about this.” 33 At that point Paul left them. 34 But some of them joined him and became believers, including Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Children's & Youth Ministry Park/Potluck

Tapestry's children and youth ministries invite all families to join in some food and games on Sunday, May 1st from 12-2. Tapestry will provide hot dogs, burgers, and vegetarian options for the main dish. We will have some games to play...parents v. kids kickball anyone?!

Where: Craig Park Shelter #2, located at North end of Craig Park just off Surina Way across from Greenwood Little League fields.

What to Bring: Camp chairs, a side dish to share, drinks.

When: 12-2pm

Risen Lord Update

In 2019, when the Design Team refocused on finding a new location for Tapestry Church, a “Property Assessment Rubric” was developed to give the Team a means to compare various properties. Properties were rated on a scale of 1-5, in 16 different categories. Categories included whether it was in our target area, if utilities were available, cost, proximity to other churches, and our comfort level in presenting the property to the Board and the congregation, along with others. Some categories were weighted as we believed they were more important than others. Generally, these ratings were done jointly during a meeting.

The first property that we evaluated was the Smith Valley Road property that we originally had an offer on. It received an average raw score of 2.73 and an average weighted score of 10.13.

As conversations with Risen Lord progressed, the Team was asked to evaluate that property. For this evaluation, each team member was asked to complete their own rubric. Seven of the eight-team members responded. Scores ranged from a low of 3.57 to a high of 4.43 and resulted in an average raw score of 4.02 and an average weighted score of 15.09. This was the highest score of any property that we evaluated.

Member Spotlight - Angie Miller

Angie Miller is the newest member of Tapestry Church. She has been worshiping with us for about 1 year. When asked what she loves most about Tapestry her response was, “I initially discovered Tapestry Church during the pandemic, and the online services were really important at that time. When I finally attended in person, I never felt like a stranger, everyone in the congregation has been so welcoming & supportive! I also enjoy the leadership provided by Cory, John, and Ryan. Through each service, I feel challenged to continually evaluate my own Christian walk -- exactly what I was looking for in a church. I'm excited to be a member at Tapestry!”

"Spring" into Fitness!

Join our First Tuesday Fellowship on Tuesday, May 3rd as Fitness Senior Trainer, Judy Donovan, shares the importance of balance and fitness! We meet at Friedens United Church of Christ with our business meeting at 11:30 p.m., devotions by Jane Kixmiller, followed by a delicious lunch and program. Book for Discussion: The Guncle by Steven Rowley

Synopsis: Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP, for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them when they come out to Palm Springs for weeklong visits, or when he heads home to Connecticut for the holidays.
