We are pleased to announce that the next chapter of our story is now “official.”
Last week, church leaders completed all the legal documents for our Shared Space Agreement with Risen Lord Lutheran Church and our loan to them.
The Shared Space Team, composed of members from both congregations, met for the first time this week to help lay the foundation as the group who will coordinate our collective life and ministry together in shared space. We heard the wisdom of Ephesians 2, which says, “As God’s household, you are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. The whole building is joined together in him,” and were reminded of our shared commitment to the vibrancy of both congregations, as well as an expanded witness in Johnson County and within the body of Christ universal.
Our piano and organ have been moved out of storage and into the Sanctuary. Jim Ream has been working tirelessly to coordinate the nuts and bolts of our move, and in the coming weeks, we will be moving over existing equipment and installing new equipment.
Our final Sunday at our current location will be July 31st, and we will launch both worship services – at their new times of 9:30 for Woven Worship in Fellowship Hall and 11:00 am for Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary – starting on Sunday, August 7th.
The first Sunday of August will once again serve as our Kick-Off Weekend. On Saturday night, August 6th, members of both congregations will be invited to come to Mallow Run for a night of music and fun. Then, on Sunday morning, in all THREE services (including Risen Lord’s), we will have our annual Backpack Blessing. And just like last year, there will be DONUTS for our fellowship time between services from 10:30 to 11:00 am!
Things are finally starting to take shape. We hope you are continuing to pray for this process and making plans to join us for this next phase of our journey together.
Blessings,
Cory
