3 John 1-15
1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul. 3 For I was overjoyed when some brothers and sisters arrived and testified to your faithfulness to the truth, how you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you; 6 they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on in a manner worthy of God, 7 for they began their journey for the sake of Christ, accepting no support from nonbelievers. 8 Therefore we ought to support such people, so that we may become coworkers with the truth. 9 I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not welcome us. 10 So if I come, I will call attention to what he is doing in spreading false charges against us. And not content with those charges, he refuses to welcome the brothers and sisters and even prevents those who want to do so and expels them from the church. 11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. 12 Everyone has testified favorably about Demetrius, and so has the truth itself. We also testify for him, and you know that our testimony is true. 13 I have much to write to you, but I would rather not write to you with pen and ink; 14 instead, I hope to see you soon, and we will talk together face to face. 15 Peace to you. The Best Part of Wakin' Up
The best part of waking' up is coming to church, and the second best part has returned.....coffee! Coffee will be available near the kitchen in Fellowship Hall between 9:00-11:00 each Sunday morning.
Join the Choir!
Choir rehearsals begin Wednesday August 31 at 7:00 pm, which will take place at Tapestry Church in the Sanctuary. We will rehearse/sing for our traditional service at 11 am on Sundays from late August through May
We need singers: sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses! If you feel led to join our music ministry, there is no audition! We welcome you! For further questions contact karri@gototapestry.org or just attend our rehearsal on Wednesdays!
Our children’s ministry is in need of volunteers!
As we prepare for the fall with the new space, we are in absolute need of more volunteers to help with Sunday School.
If God is calling you to serve, we would love your help! As our church and children’s ministry grow, we need volunteers to help chaperone children’s events and lead curriculum-driven activities for our kids during Sunday School (easy-to-follow materials provided).

The Peoples Book Club
The Peoples Book Club will meet on Tuesday, September 20th from 6:30 - 8 pm. We will meet at Linda Darr's home. The book title for discussion is "The Stranger in the Lifeboat" by Mitch Albom.
Synopsis: What would happen if we called on God for help and God actually appeared? In Mitch Albom’s profound new novel of hope and faith, a group of shipwrecked passengers pull a strange man from the sea. He claims to be “the Lord.” And he says he can only save them if they all believe in him. Adrift in a raft after a deadly ship explosion, ten people struggle for survival at sea. Three days pass. Short on water, food and hope, they spot a man floating in the waves. They pull him in. “Thank the Lord we found you,” a passenger says. “I am the Lord,” the man whispers. So begins Mitch Albom’s most beguiling novel yet.

Tapestry will again be providing weekend food bags for students in need at Westwood Elementary School. Last school year we prepared 22 bags each week. If you are able to help, we will be collecting the following:

- Chef Boyardee
- Cereal Containers
- Fruit Cups
- Applesauce Cups
- Granola Bars - NO PEANUT!
- Individual Fruit/Juice Drinks
- Pudding Cups
ALL ITEMS MUST BE NONPERISHABLE!

Wine at the Line
Get Ready for "Wine at the Line!" 5 mile run and 5K run/walk that begins and ends at Mallow Run Winery. Saturday, September 24th at 2 pm. Click Here to sign up online. This could be your reason to start getting in shape today! June 16 - September 23 registration entries are $40 with Race Day registration of $50. Tapestry is a sponsor and will have a booth. Proceeds from this walk/run benefit ‘Courageous Hearts Adoptions’. This organization works with mothers and hopeful adoptive parents here and across the country. Dear Tapestry Family,
I wanted to thank you all for everything you donated for my leadership project to the Julian Center. The clothing, housewares, and furniture filled the van and 2 cars. The office supplies, toiletries, personal and paper products went to the downtown shelter. The monetary donations went to fill the greatest needs and there are many! The staff was shocked at the generosity! This was a very eye-opening experience and getting to see the families that will be impacted was very meaningful. I am so proud to represent Tapestry with this scholarship and could not thank everyone enough for all of their prayers and support!

Lessons from the life of Peter
Failure, It’s not something any of us enjoy…yet it is something we all experience. Things don’t always go like we hope. Yet, some of our greatest growth often comes from our setbacks, disappointments, and failures. Our character forms with how we deal with those things. How do we keep moving forward, despite these failures? Join us this month as we look to the life of Peter for secrets of how to fail better and fail forward.
