Luke 5:1-11

Once while Jesus was standing beside the Lake of Gennesaret and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, 2 he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to burst. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’s knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astounded at the catch of fish that they had taken, 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” 11 When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.

The Storefront is Available

The Tapestry Storefront (our former location) is still under our care and is available for use.

While some groups continue to use the space for meetings, we are also opening the building for any of you (or someone you know!) who may need a place to host a larger gathering. Consider using the space for your next birthday party, event, or gathering.

The Rohls recently hosted an event there, and this is what Brenda has to say: "With family events coming up in the next few months, the storefront is an excellent location to host if you don’t want to worry about getting your home ready! Plenty of parking!"

To reserve the space, you'll need to complete and submit a Request for Building Use form. Applicable fees may apply. Contact office@gototapestry.org to request the form.

The Best Part of Wakin' Up

The best part of waking' up is coming to church, and the second best part has returned.....coffee! Coffee will be available near the kitchen in Fellowship Hall between 9:00-11:00 each Sunday morning.

Join the Choir!

Choir rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. We will rehearse/sing for our traditional service at 11 am on Sundays from late August through May.

We need singers: sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses! If you feel led to join our music ministry, there is no audition! We welcome you! For further questions contact karri@gototapestry.org or just attend our rehearsal on Wednesdays!

The Peoples Book Club

The Peoples Book Club will meet on Tuesday, September 20th from 6:30 - 8 pm. We will meet at Linda Darr's home. The book title for discussion is "The Stranger in the Lifeboat" by Mitch Albom.

Synopsis: What would happen if we called on God for help and God actually appeared? In Mitch Albom’s profound new novel of hope and faith, a group of shipwrecked passengers pull a strange man from the sea. He claims to be “the Lord.” And he says he can only save them if they all believe in him. Adrift in a raft after a deadly ship explosion, ten people struggle for survival at sea. Three days pass. Short on water, food and hope, they spot a man floating in the waves. They pull him in. “Thank the Lord we found you,” a passenger says. “I am the Lord,” the man whispers. So begins Mitch Albom’s most beguiling novel yet.

Our children’s ministry is in need of volunteers!

As we prepare for the fall with the new space, we are in absolute need of more volunteers to help with Sunday School.

If God is calling you to serve, we would love your help! As our church and children’s ministry grow, we need volunteers to help chaperone children’s events and lead curriculum-driven activities for our kids during Sunday School (easy-to-follow materials provided).

Tapestry will again be providing weekend food bags for students in need at Westwood Elementary School. Last school year we prepared 22 bags each week. If you are able to help, we will be collecting the following:

Fruit Cups
Applesauce Cups
Granola Bars - NO PEANUT!
Individual Fruit/Juice Drinks
Pudding Cups
