The Lasso Way
Philippians 2:1-16
2 If, then, there is any comfort in Christ, any consolation from love, any partnership in the Spirit, any tender affection and sympathy, 2 make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not to your own interests but to the interests of others. 5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, assuming human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human, 8 he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God exalted him even more highly and gave him the name that is above every other name, 10 so that at the name given to Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence but much more now in my absence, work on your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmuring and arguing, 15 so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world, 16 holding forth the word of life so that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

The brunch will provide you with an opportunity to get to know other new and prospective Tapestry members as well as learn more about Tapestry Church.

Child care will be provided, and we hope you will join us for a fun and informative time together.
Choir Kick-Off!
Our choir rehearsals begin Wednesday August 30th at 7:00 pm, which will take place in the sanctuary at Risen Lord/Tapestry Church. We will rehearse to sing for our traditional service held at 11 am on Sundays and special services from late August through May!
We need singers in all parts: sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses! If you feel led to join our music ministry, there is no audition! We welcome you! For further questions contact karri@gototapestry.org or attend our rehearsal on Wednesdays!
“Blah blah blah!” . . . Is anybody really listening?
We all want someone to listen and care about what we have to say, but listening is not always easy. As we listen, we also need to keep in mind that caring for ourselves is also important. Self-care involves setting limits on how much time we will spend listening and how much time we will spend being present with others. The blessing of listening and extending the blessing of being heard and understood is a precious gift that we can offer to others.
Beginning Sunday, September 17th from 10:10 to 10:50 in Room #3, you are invited to join with a new group to explore how we can improve and tweak our skills in listening as well as discover ways of establishing healthy boundaries when listening. Pam Taylor will be leading the group discussion for 4-weeks, and we hope you will be a part of this special experience in learning to be the best “healthy listener” that you can be!
It was a win for the adults and an all-around success last Sunday at the kids vs adults kick ball game. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our Youth!
School is Back in Session!
Fall Enrollment Open at Risen Lord Montessori
On August 3rd Risen Lord Montessori opened its doors for its 19th year for its biggest class ever! Teachers welcomed many returning students and several new smiling faces to start another eventful year of learning and discovery.
Risen Lord began its school ministry to offer the community a unique child centered education that seeks to nurture each child's physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. Risen Lord Montessori's highly trained teachers create an authentic Montessori experience, in a delightful, and nurturing space for its diverse community of young learners to thrive. Last year saw the highest enrollment ever, so to help accommodate growth while maintaining small class size a second classroom was furnished and opened for this year. With the school's expansion, there are still openings for this year available and is still accepting applications for children ages 3-6.

We will be collecting cleaning supplies for KIC-IT, an organization in Johnson County, who exists to help homeless youth. Please donate if you are able.

- We pray for Linda Peters as she goes through health challenges and we pray for Linda and her family as they grieve over the passing of their siblings.
- We pray for Linda Darr’s nephew, Scott Mocco, as he recovers from a heart attack.
- We offer our sympathy to and prayers for the family of Jon Livingston who passed away on July 26th. His memorial service was on August 3rd.
