Why Jesus Matters
John 1:1-14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. 9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. 12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.

Staying Connected
Risen Lord / Tapestry Spring Cleanup Day
To keep the grounds looking beautiful, Risen Lord and Tapestry are looking for volunteers to prune bushes, weed, edge, and distribute mulch this Saturday, April 20th starting at 9:00 am. Although the church has some gardening tools, additional wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, spades, and trimmers would be helpful. Please see Mike Zook at church or call/text him at (317) 378-4464 if you can help or have questions.

Celebrating Carolyn Reed
Make plans to join us on Sunday, April 28th, as we will be celebrating the ministry of Carolyn Reed, our current and soon-to-be-retiring Associate Regional Minister. Carolyn will be with us in worship for both services, and we will have a special reception in her honor between services during our normal fellowship time.
For those of you who are not aware, Carolyn was the first seminary student to ever serve at Tapestry. We also served as a sponsoring congregation for her ordination. She has deep connections with our church and has a long history as an advocate and friend.
Here is her full bio:
Carolyn Reed began her ministry with the Indiana Region on May 10, 1999. Her work is focused on building relationships among pastors and congregations throughout the region. This ministry includes Search and Call and designing a variety of congregational transformation and conversation processes.
Carolyn also gives support to the Commission on Ministry.
Prior to her ministry with the Region, she served as a congregational minister with Tapestry Church (then Southport Christian Church); South Side Christian Church, Kokomo; First Christian Church, Chico, CA; and Geist Christian Church, Indianapolis.
Carolyn has a B.A. from The University of Indianapolis and a M.Div. from Christian Theological Seminary. She and her husband, Bill, have two adult sons, Ryan and Zachary, and one adorable granddaughter, Reese.
Rock the Block!
Rock the Block is a timed 10K, family friendly 5K walk/run, and a free kids run which will be held on Saturday April 27th at Center Grove High School. The 10K begins at 8:35 a.m. with the 5K beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tapestry Church is once again a sponsor. Also included is food, music, vendors, and awards.
This event, which began in 2015, is now sponsoring 18 nonprofit organizations in Johnson County. Since it began, more than $203,000 have been donated to these organizations that serve Johnson County youth and families as well as the Center Grove School Corporation. Two of these nonprofits are also a part of Tapestry Church's ongoing Outreach programs.
