Exodus 20:3-11
3 you shall have no other gods before me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me 6 but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. 7 “You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name. 8 “Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 10 But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and consecrated it.

Women's Retreat
Save the Date: Women's Event, Saturday, October 5 from 9am to 3pm @ Tapestry Church. Guest Speaker: Gina Huff, Topic: Resilience in the Face of Change based on the verse from Romans 12:2 (TPT). Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect (mature) in God's eyes.
Cost: $25.00 per person includes light breakfast/lunch.

August Outreach
Our Outreach support for August will go to Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County helps those in need of a home through monetary and time donations as well as sweat equity from the future home owner. Tapestry will be a partner in the 2024 build during September. Being a partner means Tapestry agrees to pay $6,000 toward the build and supply volunteers for 1 day. Tapestry has been assigned Saturday, 9/21/24, as our volunteer day. Stay tuned for more information.
We have a goal of raising $2,000 to help with this September build through August Outreach donations. Rather than a donation of products during August, if you are able, we are asking that you either use the drop down menu online to donate and choose Habitat for Humanity, or place a donation in either offering box in the sanctuary or Fellowship Hall with Habitat for Humanity designated as the recipient.

M&Ms
M&Ms (Mary and Martha) will meet on August 13th at 10AM in room 3. This will be an organizational meeting for the yearly Bible study. This year’s Bible study will be on the book “Blessed are the Women: Naming and Reclaiming Women’s Stories from the Gospels" by Claire K. McKeever-Burnett. This book invites you to reimagine worship, embrace women’s narratives, and foster healing and justice within yourself and your communities. Books will be available at the meeting for $13.00. All women of the church are invited to attend.

Book Study
Six-Week Book Study on Struggling with God: Mental Health and Christian Spirituality begins Monday, August 12th/Tuesday, August 13th
“When it feels as if our struggles are overwhelming—and our capacity for faith, hope and love is diminished—how is it possible to maintain, never mind nourish, our relationship with God?” Together, we can learn how to dispel common myths about mental illness and explore the impact mental health disorders can have on individual Christians, the Church and society. It's a great book study to invite a friend to attend with you.
Two study times are available:
Monday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Youth Room
Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am in Rm. 3.
Books are $10.
