James 3:13-4:3
13 Who is wise and knowledgeable among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be arrogant and lie about the truth. 15 This is not wisdom that comes down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish. 16 For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
4 Those conflicts and disputes among you, where do they come from? Do they not come from your cravings that are at war within you? 2 You want something and do not have it, so you commit murder. And you covet something and cannot obtain it, so you engage in disputes and conflicts. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, in order to spend what you get on your pleasures.

Tapestry Church Picnic
This Sunday, September 22nd, immediately following the combined service at at 10:30am.
Let's welcome the autumn season with a picnic and your favorite fall recipes. The church will provide fried chicken (along with a vegetarian option) and drinks. We are asking that you bring the side dishes and desserts (think all things apple, sweet potato, pumpkin, corn, etc...but, of course, you can bring whatever you would like!). If your last name starts with A-M please bring a side dish and N-Z please bring a dessert.
We will have a few tables set up outdoors, along with a few tables indoors in the narthex, but feel free to bring a picnic blanket or camp chairs too.

The After Party Book Study
The After Party book study is a multimedia and practical study that will help folks attempt to understand the political and ideological rifts in their lives and redirect any negative energy. For example, those exhausted by the political landscape will learn that their voices matter and discover ways to engage in politics in hopeful ways. The cynic will learn that hope does not have to be passive; that hope is powerful.
This book is not perfect, nor will it have all the answers. But we will tease out the underlying problems with this book and partisan politics in general as we discuss ways to embody faithful politics together.
Join us for six weeks on Tuesdays at 6:30pm beginning September 24th in Fellowship Hall.
Shoe Drive
We are collecting new and used shoes for Changing Footprints.
Changing Footprints is a non-profit agency that accepts new and used shoes of all sizes and shapes! They then share them with those who NEED shoes due to disaster-stricken,
homelessness and under-privileged situations. The shoes go where there is a need
locally, nationally or overseas.

We Need You!
We will be celebrating World Communion Sunday on October 6th. If you have a favorite cultural dessert or bread (baklava, sopapillas, mandazi, naan, amish friendship bread, etc) we would love you to share it to help celebrate. Please sign up with the link below or at the sign up sheets located on the welcome table Sunday morning. Desserts and breads can be brought the morning of 10/6 by 9:30.

Rocket Launch – Fellowship and Celebration
Please join us on Sunday, September 29 at 4:30 pm to what we anticipate will be a wonderful celebration of Risen Lord and Tapestry forming The Common Place to operate and manage the property. We will have food, fun and fellowship, and as part of the celebration, we will be launching model rockets in the open field north of the building. Everyone is welcome to launch a rocket! If you don’t already have a rocket, we will supply you with one, just let us know on the sign-up sheet at church or by e-mailing Fred Hamilton at 7680fh@gmail.com. We need to know if you want a rocket by September 15 so that we can get them ordered in time for the event. To add to the fun, we will assemble our rocket kits together on Sunday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m. at church. Let’s have a blast together!
The Ecumenical Files

Tapestry and Risen Lord Lutheran churches are embarking on a new chapter of co-ownership of the property of 3756 W. Whiteland Road in Bargersville, Indiana. People say what we’re doing is ecumenical. What does that even mean? Join us as we share scripture, prayer, stories and reflections from special guests about being ecumenical. Chances are we know more than we think we do about ecumenism. Women's Retreat
Save the Date: Women's Event, Saturday, October 5 from 9am to 3pm @ Tapestry Church. Guest Speaker: Gina Huff, Topic: Resilience in the Face of Change based on the verse from Romans 12:2 (TPT). Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect (mature) in God's eyes.
Cost: $25.00 per person includes light breakfast/lunch.
