Join us this Sunday as we begin the series, Coming Alive

Every October, we begin to make plans for the year that is to come. While this has an important role in developing our ministry plans and budgets, it’s also an annual reminder that God’s call in our lives is not static. There are ebbs and flows and seasons. Each year brings fresh opportunities to serve God in either new or ongoing ways.

Join us this October, as we consider the things that God is calling us toward during this season of our lives and in this new chapter of Tapestry’s story.

Nehemiah 1:1-11

1 The words of Nehemiah son of Hacaliah. In the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of Susa, 2 one of my brothers, Hanani, came with certain men from Judah, and I asked them about the Jews who escaped, those who had survived the captivity, and about Jerusalem. 3 They replied, “The remnant there in the province who escaped captivity are in great trouble and shame; the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been destroyed by fire.” 4 When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days, fasting and praying before the God of heaven. 5 I said, “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for your servants, the Israelites, confessing the sins of the Israelites, which we have sinned against you. Both I and my family have sinned. 7 We have offended you deeply, failing to keep the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances that you commanded Moses your servant. 8 Remember the word that you commanded Moses your servant, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples, 9 but if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts are under the farthest skies, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I have chosen to establish my name.’ 10 They are your servants and your people whom you redeemed by your great power and your strong hand. 11 O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man!” At the time, I was cupbearer to the king.

You’re invited to join Risen Lord and Tapestry Church as we celebrate World Communion this Sunday October 6th. A variety of ethnic breads will be provided in the Narthex from 10:30-11:00. Please join as we enjoy these diverse tastings from around the world.

2025 Stewardship

Each fall, we ask everyone to make a tangible commitment of their time and resources for the upcoming year. This helps us to better plan for the ways in which we feel God calling us to serve together, and it helps us to responsibly steward our resources in order to fund those ministries.

Commitment Sunday will be Sunday, October 27th, where we will be presenting our pledge cards as an act of worship. In the weeks ahead, please read through the booklet and consider your investment of time, talent, and treasure.

Staying Connected

Shoe Drive

We are collecting new and used shoes for Changing Footprints.
Changing Footprints is a non-profit agency that accepts new and used shoes of all sizes and shapes!

Two car loads of shoes have been donated to Changing Footprints already and we still have a week to go! Thank you, thank you, for your generosity in donating used and new shoes. The organization receives and donates shoes almost weekly! If you have a desire to volunteer at the small warehouse garage at 5602 Elmwood Avenue, #113 (near I465 and Emerson), you are welcome to show up Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9am - noon. Another shoe drive will be planned next spring.

October Outreach

During October, Tapestry Outreach is partnering with the Indian Creek Braves Food Pantry. This is a food pantry in Trafalgar that served approximately 200 households a month in the previous school year.

Women's Retreat

Save the Date: Women's Event, Saturday, October 5 from 9am to 3pm @ Tapestry Church. Guest Speaker: Gina Huff, Topic: Resilience in the Face of Change based on the verse from Romans 12:2 (TPT): Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect (mature) in God's eyes.

Cost: $25.00 per person includes light breakfast/lunch.

M&Ms

M&Ms (Mary & Martha) will meet on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11AM. The topic this month is on Anna, a prophet, who met the baby Jesus at the Temple. This lesson will be led by Linda Darr, with snacks provided by Betty Sisco. Please join us.

The Ecumenical Files

Tapestry and Risen Lord Lutheran churches are embarking on a new chapter of co-ownership of the property of 3756 W. Whiteland Road in Bargersville, Indiana. People say what we’re doing is ecumenical. What does that even mean? Join us as we share scripture, prayer, stories and reflections from special guests about being ecumenical. Chances are we know more than we think we do about ecumenism. Reconciliation Offering

Funds generated by this special emphasis are used throughout the year to provide grants to ministries and congregations actively developing and implementing programs that promote our Church’s Pro-Reconciliation and Anti-Racist identity. These programs and efforts seek to reveal, re-educate, and remove systemic and structural barriers in our communities that serve to deny the image of God and human thriving based on race.
