Nehemiah 4:1-9

Now when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry and greatly enraged, and he mocked the Jews. 2 He said in the presence of his associates and of the army of Samaria, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore it by themselves? Will they offer sacrifice? Will they finish it in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish—burned ones at that?” 3 Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “That stone wall they are building—any fox going up on it would break it down!” 4 Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their taunt back on their own heads, and give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5 Do not cover their guilt, and do not let their sin be blotted out from your sight, for they have raged against the builders. 6 So we rebuilt the wall, and all the wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work. 7 But when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward and the gaps were beginning to be closed, they were very angry 8 and all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and to cause confusion in it. 9 So we prayed to our God and set a guard as a protection against them day and night.

2025 Stewardship

Each fall, we ask everyone to make a tangible commitment of their time and resources for the upcoming year. This helps us to better plan for the ways in which we feel God calling us to serve together, and it helps us to responsibly steward our resources in order to fund those ministries.

Commitment Sunday will be Sunday, October 27th, where we will be presenting our pledge cards as an act of worship. In the weeks ahead, please read through the booklet and consider your investment of time, talent, and treasure.

Staying Connected

Trunk or Treat 2024

We’ll gather at church to hand out candy, hang out around the bonfire, and share God’s love with our community. In addition to handing out candy, we’ll be having hot dogs and s’mores! We'll also be having a contest for the top 3 most festive trunks! Lastly, if you own a canopy, please bring it...just in case it rains!

How can you get involved?

1) Volunteer to provide a trunk! This is the most important part – you cannot have a Trunk or Treat without trunks! It’s actually quite simple: just decorate your trunk or truck bed and hand out candy. There are dozens of great ideas online. If this feels a little daunting, join up with a friend to do a trunk together!

2) Donate candy. If you cannot be there that night, you can always donate candy or money to purchase candy. This will be used to supplement the candy that each trunk provides.

3) Help with dinner. We’ll need lots of folks to assist with hotdogs and marshmallow roasting. It will take all of our combined efforts to make this a memorable event, so please consider which way you want to get involved!

October Outreach

During October, Tapestry Outreach is partnering with the Indian Creek Braves Food Pantry. This is a food pantry in Trafalgar that served approximately 200 households a month in the previous school year.

Sing with Friends Choral Festival

Enjoy a FREE and lively celebration of choral music featuring choruses from local schools, the Castlewood Singers, the IU Singing Hoosiers, and culminating with a mass choir finale in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring your friends and family to join in the fun and enjoy the power of music.

The People's Book Club

This book club welcomes anyone interested in reading, even if it's just one title that you want to read and discuss. We always have great snacks and beverages. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month, September, November, January, March and May. Then we take July off for summer reading at your leisure. We have interesting discussions of the books we read and invite anyone interested to come!

Monthly Women’s Breakfast

Beginning Saturday, November 2nd we will have a Monthly Women’s Breakfast on the 1st Saturday of every Month. We’ll meet at Yia Yia’s House of Pancakes, 1694 W Main Street in Greenwood at 9am.

Tapestry and Risen Lord Lutheran churches are embarking on a new chapter of

co-ownership of the property of 3756 W. Whiteland Road in Bargersville, Indiana. People say what we’re doing is ecumenical. What does that even mean? Join us as we share scripture, prayer, stories and reflections from special guests about being ecumenical. Chances are we know more than we think we do about ecumenism.
