John 4:1-26

4 Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard, “Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John” 2 (although it was not Jesus himself but his disciples who baptized), 3 he left Judea and started back to Galilee. 4 But he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a Samaritan city called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired out by his journey, was sitting by the well. It was about noon. 7 A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” 8 (His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? 12 Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?” 13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come back.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true!” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you[f] say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming and is now here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When he comes, he will proclaim all things to us.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who is speaking to you.”

Youth Day at the Indiana Statehouse

Would you like to learn how to better advocate for marginalized communities through our shared Christian values in public spaces? Join us on February 17th for the 2025 Youth Day at the Indiana Statehouse from 9am - 3pm (leaving Tapestry @ 8am).

In preparation, we will explore how to align our faith and prayers with meaningful public action, ensuring our advocacy is informed and grounded in Christian principles. This promises to be an inspiring and educational experience that empowers you to make a difference in your community.

Interested parents are welcome!

Prep session will be during normal youth group on Feb.16 @ noon.

Quest

Attention Families! (w/ children in pre-K - 5th grade) Join us on Sunday, March 2nd @ 10:45-noon(ish) in fellowship hall.

Rev. Anita Cobb, director of the Quest program, will be joining us again for a fun event celebrating unit 2 of the program. We will discover new ways to teach and learn about the fruits of the spirit, especially the focus of this unit, love. Snacks, drinks, and fun are provided. See you there!

Lenten Book Study

Join us during Lent as we work through Brian Zahnd’s book, “The Wood Between the Worlds.” Using art, poetry, and literature, we will contemplatively dive into the theology of the cross. Looking at the crucifixion in new and imaginative ways, we will discover how it reveals God through the “mystery of Christ in its multilayered meanings."

Let’s meditate on the meaning of the cross as we prepare to celebrate new life in Christ’s resurrection and what that means for our community and world today.

We will meet in fellowship hall (Woven space) on Tuesdays @ 630 p.m. beginning March 4th. Books are $10. Click Here to register.

Meet-n-Eat

Have you been wanting to connect with other church members? Do you love to eat? If the answer is YES then we have a great opportunity for you! Our Meet-n-Eat Groups are designed to help church members get to know one another a little better while sharing a meal. Sign-ups will be for the next three weeks by either completing the online form (CLICK HERE) or signing up on Sunday at the check-in area. Groups will be created based on the information given at sign-up. Groups will be encouraged to meet a minimum of three times over the Spring/Summer months. How and when groups meet will be determined by the Meet-n-Eat group members. We hope you will consider signing up and getting to know the Tapestry family! Save the Date!

We will be traveling to Christmount, in Black Mountain, NC, July 6-11, to help rebuild following the disaster of Hurricane Helene last September. This will be an intergenerational trip, not just a trip for youth. Let Ryan know if you are interested or have any questions. Registration will be coming soon as we work with Christmount to solidify the projects we will be working on along with the evening activities and learning experiences.

Join The Tapestry Team For The Coldest Night Of The Year Walk!

The Refuge is encouraging Johnson and Marion County residents to bundle up and raise cold hard cash for The Coldest Night Of the Year (CNOY) Walk. A family-friendly winter fundraising walk for Johnson and Marion County homeless, hungry, and hurting.

By walking together in the chill of the night, participants will better understand the experience of being on the streets during a cold winter, while raising funds to aid the work of The Refuge in providing much-needed support.

The walk will take place on February 22nd at 4pm. Beginning and ending at Center Grove Church, 2340 S SR 135 Greenwood. Participants will walk a 2km or 5km route with toasty drinks at rest stops along the way. Check-in begins at 3pm.

February Outreach

Our outreach focus for February is The Refuge. The Refuge is a non-denominational, faith-based community outreach center. It is their goal to provide for the physical, emotional, academic and spiritual needs of Johnson county residents. They accommodate individuals once a calendar month by meeting with them individually to discuss their needs.

Personal hygiene products is our focus for February.
Items such as, but not limited to, shampoo, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste.

Special Offering 2025: Heard & Seen

Increasingly severe and frequent weather-related and human-caused disasters continue to fragment communities around the world. Adding to the destructive impact of disasters in these regions, political unrest and climate change continue to increase the number of displaced persons worldwide and complicate the work of recovery.

This is the essence of Week of Compassion – the work of the church in creating sanctuaries of healing, joy, and hope in the face of trauma and devastation.
