"Do not be afraid" is a most frequently given commandment in the Bible, and yet fear still dictates our individual and collective lives in countless ways. Join us as we explore the coercive power of fear and celebrate God's power to liberate us from it.
Fear of the Unknown
Luke 5:1-11
Once while Jesus was standing beside the Lake of Gennesaret and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, 2 he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to burst. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’s knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astounded at the catch of fish that they had taken, 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” 11 When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.

Staying Connected
Rock the Block!
Rock the block is a timed 10K, family friendly 5K walk/run, and also has a free kids run which will be held this Saturday, April 26th at Center Grove High School. Tapestry Church is once again a sponsor. Food, music, vendors, and awards are also included. The 10K begins at 8:35 a.m. with the 5K beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Kids Run begins at 10:00 a.m.
This event has given back $245,000 to Johnson County charities serving children and families since 2015.
Registration is $45.00 with the day of race cost of $50. You may register below for this wonderful day of family fun and exercise.

Rooted in Faith and Justice will challenge your perspectives, confront double standards, and help you discover pathways to solidarity and action. Engage with the realities of Palestine, rooted in faith, justice, and peace, and become part of the movement towards a just and lasting peace.
Krista Johnson Weicksel and Ryan Meek will lead a discussion of the book, co-edited by Krista, Rooted in Faith and Justice: Christian Calls to Conscience & Cries for Peace in Palestine.

The Common Place Spring Cleanup
Spring has sprung! To keep the grounds looking beautiful, The Common Place is looking for volunteers to prune bushes, weed and distribute mulch and stone on Saturday,
May 3rd starting at 9:00am.
Although we have some gardening tools, additional wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, spades, and trimmers would be helpful.

Mission Trip 2025 - Christmount
Join us July 7-12 for a service trip to Christmount in Black Mountain, NC. We will help the folks at Christmount and surrounding areas in the long recovery following Hurricane Helene last fall.
The cost is $250 for a family of four ($50/person over 4) and $100 for individuals. A $50 deposit will hold your spot for the trip. We will have an informational meeting on June 1st @ 10:30 am in the Woven Space. The deadline to register is May 18.

April Outreach
Our Outreach for April is to help Resources of Hope. The current need is summer pajamas for teen girls and boys. The sizes can range from older youth to adult sizes. Consider short sets, night gowns, or sleep shorts with t-shirts.
They are also in need of volunteers twice a month on Saturday mornings, ROH needs childcare helpers during Foster Parent meetings. The time commitment is from 8:45 to 11:15am. Please see Linda Speziale if you are interested.
