Join us this Sunday as we continue our series, Summer of Sacred Stories.

Luke 14:1, 7-14

1 On one occasion when Jesus was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the Sabbath, they were watching him closely.

7 When he noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. 8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited by your host, 9 and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, ‘Give this person your place,’ and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. 10 But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher’; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. 11 For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” 12 He said also to the one who had invited him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers and sisters or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14 And you will be blessed because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

September 7th following Traditional Service

We look forward to gathering together for our Annual Church Picnic for a time of fellowship and celebrating the conclusion of our time of sabbatical. To help welcome Cory back from his sabbatical we will be enjoying his favorite food-tacos. The church will provide a taco bar and drinks, but we need your help in bringing salad, fruit or a dessert. If your last name starts with A-M please bring a salad or fruit, and N-Z please bring a dessert. Feel free to bring the item the morning of September 7th and we will get it set out for the picnic.

Since we will be having both services that day, we will be offering some Outreach projects to work on for those who want to hang around for the picnic after Woven. This is a great opportunity to support some local ministries by assembling bags and stuffing pillows.

Unconditional

Preparing 100 bags with goodies This service project helps women in the adult entertainment industry by providing opportunities for safe community and increased stability towards a thriving future.

Book Pillows of Hope

Stuffing 100 pillows (no sewing) This service project sews pillows that carry a book in them that share hope. The book pillows promote literacy and are distributed to children, usually infants through 5th graders, who are facing difficult situations.

One more thing, we will have a few tables/chairs set up outdoors but encourage you to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs, and your favorite yard game. We will have corn hole and a few other games for all to enjoy.

Outreach Opportunities for September

Sep-TIME-ber is a month filled with opportunities to volunteer your time! Some of the needs include: sorting shoes, setting up chairs, cleaning up after an event, directing traffic and being a supporting presence for those that feel unseen.

Indians’ Game

The Indianapolis Indians’ Game is rescheduled for Friday, September 12th. Tickets are $15 for box seats or $9.00 for lawn, if we meet the group minimum of 25 tickets. Please let Linda Speziale know before September 5th by call or text 317-965-6317.

Two Opportunities for Fellowship and Learning about the Tapestry Church Legacy Builders Ministry:

Sunday, September 21st at Tapestry Church following Traditional Worship at approximately noon

*Heavy Hors D'oeuvres and beverages at the Saturday gathering

*Light Lunch served at the church on Sunday

These events, sponsored by the Legacy Fund Trustees, will be fun and informative as you learn about the tremendous impact of this ministry and the ways in which you might choose to participate. There will be no strong sales pitch and no pressure. Come and enjoy the food, fellowship and learning with friends.
