Join us this Sunday as we begin our new series, The Gospel According to Jonah.

Join us as we explore the relentless compassion, mercy, and love God has for all people through the eyes of the reluctant prophet, Jonah. In this little book, we find key elements of the gospel - grace, forgiveness, and mercy.

Let’s go beyond the whale, to find what Jonah’s story tells us about God, ourselves, and even how to think about others we might consider our enemies.

In the Belly of the Beast

2 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2 saying, “I called to the Lord out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. 3 You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. 4 Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; how shall I look again upon your holy temple?’ 5 The waters closed in over me; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped around my head 6 at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the Pit, O Lord my God. 7 As my life was ebbing away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. 8 Those who worship vain idols forsake their true loyalty. 9 But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Deliverance belongs to the Lord!” 10 Then the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out onto the dry land.

Thank You Tapestry Church!

We stuffed 100 pillow forms for Book Pillows of Hope. Books will be placed in each for a child who has suffered from a traumatic event.

We made 300 information packets for Unconditional. These will be placed on the tables at Stiletto Stories, their fundraiser event.

We sorted a plethora of shoes at Changing Footprints!

These events, sponsored by the Legacy Fund Trustees, will be fun and informative as you learn about the tremendous impact of this ministry and the ways in which you might choose to participate. There will be no strong sales pitch and no pressure. Come and enjoy the food, fellowship and learning with friends.

Field Trip to Shaffer Chapel AME

In the basement of the historic Shaffer Chapel, an African Methodist Episcopal congregation, holds a museum that shares its courageous role in the civil rights movement and in caring for the victims' bodies of the last known lynching in Indiana in 1930. We hope you can join us for a journey of truth-telling, solidarity and spiritual growth.

Where? 1501 E Highland Ave., Muncie

When? Saturday, October 11 10:30am (meet at the church at 9am to carpool)

Cost? $10/person

Bring money for lunch on the way out of town. Location TBD.

We should return to Bargersville by 2pm.

Cheers for Chair Yoga!

We are blessed to have Barb Thompson, a certified yoga instructor, leading a chair yoga class on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 pm at church in Fellowship Hall.

Oversight approved the purchase of 20 yoga chairs. These chairs look like card table chairs, but they aren’t. They are currently stored under the coat rack in Fellowship Hall. We are excited to receive these specific chairs, and if they are used please return them to their storage spot!

Look for more details to come of another yoga class that Barb will soon be offering!

Outreach Opportunities for September

Sep-TIME-ber is a month filled with opportunities to volunteer your time! Some of the needs include: sorting shoes, setting up chairs, cleaning up after an event, directing traffic and being a supporting presence for those that feel unseen.

BOOK CLUB

We will meet Tuesday, 9/16/25, at 6:30 at Brenda Rohl’s to discuss ‘The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife’. The book is described as “Bittersweet and remarkably perceptive ….. a hilarious, feel-good, clever novel about grief, forgiveness, redemption, and finding family". Whether you’ve read the book, are reading the book, or are wondering if you would like to read the book, please join us. We will have snacks, drinks, and most importantly fellowship fun!

Mallow Run Winery Wine at the Line!

The 15th annual Wine at the Line Walk/Run at Mallow Run Winery is happening Saturday, September 27th. As in the past, Tapestry Church is a sponsor and has a booth. The proceeds of this event benefit a local charity.

As a sponsor, we are allowed some free registrations. There are a few free registrations left and may be used with the code tapestry10.

Packet pickup is Thursday, Sept. 25 from 12-7 pm at Runners Forum (Greenwood), Friday, Sept. 26 from 12-6 pm at Mallow Run Winery, or Saturday, Sept. 27 at noon at the winery.

Race Schedule:

12 noon - main registration tent and winery tasting room open

1:45 - meet at the Tapestry booth for a group photo

2:00 - 5 mile run begins

2:10 - 5K run/walk begins

3:00 - post race party with wine tasting, food, drinks, and live music until 6:00
