27 And as he talked with him, he went in and found that many had assembled, 28 and he said to them, “You yourselves know that it is improper for a Jew to associate with or to visit an outsider, but God has shown me that I should not call anyone profane or unclean. 29 So when I was sent for, I came without objection. Now may I ask why you sent for me?”

34 Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, 35 but in every people anyone who fears him and practices righteousness is acceptable to him. 36 You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all.

44 While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard the word. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the gentiles, 46 for they heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter said, 47 “Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 So he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they invited him to stay for several days.

2026 Stewardship

Each fall, we ask everyone to make a tangible commitment of their time and resources for the upcoming year. This helps us to better plan for the ways in which we feel God calling us to serve together, and it helps us to responsibly steward our resources in order to fund those ministries.

Commitment Sunday will be Sunday, October 26th, where we will be presenting our pledge cards as an act of worship. In the weeks ahead, please read through the booklet and consider your investment of time, talent, and treasure.

Member Spotlight

We welcome Julie Wiggam and Jenn (Jennifer) Flynn as the newest members of Tapestry Church!

Julie has been worshiping with us for a about 18 months. When asked what she loves most about Tapestry her response was, “I love Tapestry's mission of inclusivity. Everyone is so open and welcoming. It feels like a church community that holds nothing back. I am particularly fond of the "talk back" portion after each sermon, which I refer to as "caring and sharing time." It speaks a lot of a pastor that will submit to immediate questions and feedback for the sermon.”

Jenn has been worshiping with us for a little over a year. When asked what she loves most about Tapestry her response was, “I love that Tapestry is so devoted to following Jesus and living out his teachings. I love that it is open and affirming to EVERYONE. I also really love the committment I see to building a healthy church community.”

Staying Connected

AED Training

As most of you are aware, we have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), but would you be comfortable using it in the event of an emergency? We will be offering a training session this Sunday, October 19th, at 10:30 in room 3. AED training will teach you how to recognize a cardiac arrest and use an AED to deliver an electrical shock to help a person whose heart has stopped. This training can boost your confidence and effectiveness in an emergency, helping you provide crucial care until professional help arrives. All are welcome to attend.

October Outreach

Our October Outreach is helping cover the feet of children in foster care. Resources of Hope is in need of little girls & boys shoes sizes 6-13 and little girls & boys socks of any sizes that include 8-11. The shoes needed are everyday shoes that are new or like new, think tennis shoes or comfortable shoes. The socks needed are crew socks or ankle socks.

Trunk or Treat 2025

We’ll gather at church to hand out candy, hang out around the bonfire, and share God’s love with our community. In addition to handing out candy, we’ll be having hot dogs and s’mores! We'll also be having a contest for the top 3 most festive trunks! Lastly, if you own a canopy, please bring it...just in case it rains!

How can you get involved?

1) Volunteer to provide a trunk! This is the most important part – you cannot have a Trunk or Treat without trunks! It’s actually quite simple: just decorate your trunk or truck bed and hand out candy. There are dozens of great ideas online. If this feels a little daunting, join up with a friend to do a trunk together!

2) Donate candy. If you cannot be there that night, you can always donate candy or money to purchase candy. This will be used to supplement the candy that each trunk provides.

3) Help with dinner. We’ll need lots of folks to assist with hotdogs and marshmallow roasting. It will take all of our combined efforts to make this a memorable event, so please consider which way you want to get involved!

Traditional Music News

Tapestry Ukulele Ensemble and the Tapestry Choir will provide special music this Sunday October 19th.

Welcome Trina Vallone as a new hymn leader for our Traditional Sunday service.

A special shout out to John Richardson and Bill Bass for their ministry of leading the hymns the past several Sundays for our Traditional service.

We welcome a new choir member this year: Linda Dill—we are blessed to have her in our choir. Carol Reed joined the choir last year, another musical blessing.

A special thank you to all of our returning musicians who dedicate their time and talents to provide music for our services.

Tuesday Bible Study

Beginnings, a deep dive into Genesis 1–12, will continue through November 4th.

We'll rediscover the origin stories of our faith and how they shape us today.

Two study times are available on Tuesdays:

10:00am (meets in Room 3)

6:30pm (meets in the sanctuary)

Food & Fellowship

For the next several weeks, we are adding a second coffee station for folks to enjoy coffee and conversation. Join us in Fellowship Hall from 9:00am - 10:45am and by the round café tables outside the sanctuary from 10:15am - 11:15am.
