Join us this Sunday as we begin our Lenten series, Jesus Unfiltered.

Jesus was born the son of peasants in a remote area of the Roman Empire. He never traveled more than 200 miles from his home, didn’t write a single word, and never amassed property or wealth. He was one of many itinerant teachers and healers of his time. Two thousand years later, billions of people worship him as Lord and Savior of the world and countless others use his teachings as a basis for a meaningful life.

Jesus made several bold claims about who he was in John’s gospel – the famous “I AM” statements. Why did he describe himself in these ways? And if we look beyond the filters that we've inherited to see him more fully, what might these statements mean for us today?

Join us this Lent as we seek an unfiltered view of Jesus, so that we may be more fully formed into the likeness of Christ.

John 6:26-35

Bread of Life

26 Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “What sign are you going to give us, then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” 32 Then Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Hello from the 2026 board of The Common Place! The board is made up of an equal number of Managers from Tapestry and Risen Lord and generally meets monthly. Serving as executive officers are Karen Dickerson and Dayna Zook, co-chairs, Curtis Clingerman, treasurer, and Debbie Miller, secretary.

Dayna, Fred, Dave and Chris also serve on the building committee, which makes sure that routine maintenance and repairs take place and researches and recommends property improvements. Curtis, Fred, and Doug serve on the finance committee along with Clint Weicksel and Jonathan Purvis from Tapestry Church. This committee reviews financial reports, is establishing financial policies and procedures, and will prepare the annual budget to recommend to the board.

Happily, projects that the board spent many hours working on last year are now coming into being. New ADA compliant handicap ramps were installed on the south and west sides of the building last week. Additionally, we have heard from our contractor that our new joint sign that will feature The Common Place, Risen Lord and Tapestry is ready at long last! If the weather cooperates, it could be installed this week. Risen Lord’s sign will be removed, and the joint sign will be placed in that location. Be on the lookout…

Lent Book Study

Join us Tuesdays, beginning February 17th @ 6:30pm for our Lent book study, An Unlikely Lent, by Rachel Billups. We will navigate Lent through six unlikely heroes like Barabbas, Mary of Bethany, and Simon of Cyrene. By lifting up marginalized voices, Billips will invite us into an old journey in a fresh way.

Justice Taskforce Call-Out

Our mission is to embody the values of love, justice, and mercy that lie at the heart of our faith, and to take actionable steps towards creating a more just society for all. We invite anyone interested in discussing strategies, organizing events, or engaging in outreach to join us in this vital ministry.

Whether you're experienced in advocacy work or simply looking to learn more and get involved, there's a place for you within this task force. Together, we will further Tapestry’s inclusivity and love of Christ, uplifting the voices of the marginalized, while fostering a spirit of transformation.
