Discovering the Universal Christ
Across the thousands of versions of Christianity in the world, adherents all claim to believe in Jesus Christ. And yet, there is very little agreement about what is to be believed, how to believe it, or whom to believe in. Very few Christians have ever thought deeply about the nature of God revealed in Jesus Christ or why that should affect how we live.
Join us this May as we discover the universal Christ, loosely based on Richard Rohr’s book by the same title. In it, we’ll find a Christ that is bigger than Christianity, a love greater than we ever imagined, and a framework that reshapes everything we believe.

John 1:1-9, 14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. 9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.

Justice Sunday
Join us this Sunday, May 3rd for Justice Sunday - presented by the Justice Taskforce!
We welcome the director for Justice and Advocacy Ministries from Disciples Home Missions, Rev. Brian Frederick-Gray. In between services, we will set up a simple activity of justice advocacy - using our voices to stand for the marginalized by writing letters on justice matters that affect the vulnerable among us. Letter templates and postage will be provided.
At noon, Brian will lead us in a discussion to help us direct our advocacy efforts and where to find denominational resources. Light refreshments will be provided.

Summer 2026 – Soapbox Sermons
For our summer series this year, we will once again be hearing from a multitude of voices – this time from within our congregation!
Soapboxes were raised platforms, usually wooden crates used for shipments of soap, where orators would offer impromptu speeches. Today, the phrase is synonymous with public speaking about an important subject , often with the intention of “selling” an idea.
Do you have a story that needs to be told or a burning desire to share something meaningful to you?
If so, we invite you to consider offering a soapbox sermon this summer. Pastors Cory and Ryan will be on hand to assist you in your sermon crafting, if desired.
