How long have you been a part of the Tapestry community?
4 years
Why is Tapestry important to you?
I grew up in a Disciple of Christ Church in Lebanon, IN. I tried other churches when I moved to Greenwood, but none was a good fit. When I walked in to what was then Southport Christian, I found the values and ethics I believed in being preached and followed. I knew then I had found my church home.
Everyone has unique life experiences, what is something (or a few things) that your Tapestry family may not know about you?
Most probably don't know that:
1. I lost my husband due to a heart attack when he was 47.
2. I taught high school for 35 years.
3. I currently teach online classes for IUPUI and Ivy Tech.
4. I have been on many work trips to Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Mississippi, and El Salvador.
5. I live with my daughter and son-in-law and take care of their two children full-time.
Do you have special skills/talents/passions?
I have a passion for education which is one reason I have taught for 43 years. I have a passion for reading
What is your favorite Bible verse/quote/poem/saying?
Psalm 91 has been a scripture that has gotten me through life, but the following is a quote I found years ago and try to live each day (sorry, it's long!) "Life each day to the fullest. Get the most from each hour, each day, each age of your life. then you can look forward with confidence and back without regrets. Be yourself--but be your best self. Dare to be different and to follow your own star. And don't be afraid to be happy. Enjoy what is beautiful. Love with all your heart and soul. Believe that those you love, love you. Forget what you have done for your friends, and remember what they have done for you. Disregard what the world owes you, and concentrate on what you owe the world. When you are faced with a decision, make that decision as wisely as possible--then forget it. The moment of absolute certainty never arrives. And above all, act as if everything depends upon you, and pray as if everything depends on God." S. H. Payer.
