Sunday, June 7th -
11 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. 2 And as they migrated from the east,
they came upon a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” 5 The Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which mortals had built. 6 And the Lord said, “Look, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down, and confuse their language there, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. 9 Therefore it was called Babel, because there the Lord confused
the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
The Mid-Week Update
Like you, I’ve been watching and praying. All week long, I’ve been mulling over what I wanted to share in this week’s Weekly Devotional video. I’d planned to say a few words about confessing our own racial bias and admitting our participation in unjust systems. About acknowledging inequality. About listening to and believing black people. About having hard conversations with loved ones. About putting in the work to educate ourselves and find opportunities to stand in solidarity and change our actions.
Then, I saw this video (thanks to Sam Opsahl for sharing). Instead of watching my face for yet another week, I encourage you to watch this video today. After that, I encourage you to consult this document in efforts of being actively anti-racist:
Let’s keep listening and keep talking. We’ve got work to do.

Donations for The Refuge
The Refuge is continuing to see lots of cars in their drive-through food pantry line during these difficult times. Tapestry Church has a plan to help. We must emphasize, however, that we want no one to put themselves at risk or compromise their own food supply. If you are willing & able to help, we will be collecting Peanut Butter, Canned Fruit, Boxed Macaroni & Cheese, & Peanut Butter Crackers. If you have these items to donate or have questions, contact Brenda Rohl (317 847-3824) and we will arrange a “porch pick up” and get your items to The Refuge.

2020 Pentecost Offering
In 2001, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) embraced a bold vision: to start 1,000 new churches in 1,000 different ways by the year 2020.
Today, we have welcomed 1,034+ new places of worship into the Church. The table around which we gather has grown in language, diversity, and life experience.
Courageous leaders have answered the call to grow the denomination through the new church movement. They have reached the underserved, welcomed new neighbors, and created communities of faith. And we, as Disciples, have committed to supporting them.
Support the 2020 Pentecost Offering.
Each year, half of this offering stays in your Region
to support and sustain new churches. The second half helps leaders across the United States and Canada through New
