With Call Comes Sacrifice, Nehemiah 4:1-9
When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?” Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!” Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders. So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart. But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.
Open & Affirming Process
In the next few weeks, there will be several opportunities to join the conversation around Tapestry Church officially becoming an Open & Affirming congregation. This designation means that we would publicly identify ourselves as an inclusive church that welcomes persons of all gender expressions and sexual identities into the full life and leadership of the church.
On Wednesday, October 7th, at 6:30 pm, our Senior Minister, Cory Glover, led a training session via Zoom called “What the Bible says and doesn’t say about homosexuality.” Click Here to watch a recording of the training
On Wednesday, October 21st, and Wednesday, November 4th, at 6:30pm, we will be having two Listening Sessions via Zoom. These will be a time of education, reflection, conversation, and prayer. Click Here for Zoom Link
For those of you who would prefer to meet in person, we will be offering two additional opportunities - on Wednesday, October 28th, at 10am and 11am. You will need to sign-up for these in advance. ReEntry Phase 1
As of September 1st, we are now in Phase 1 of our ReEntry plan. Groups and committees have already resumed in-person meetings, in accordance with the Phase 1 guidelines - groups of 10 or less with masking, distancing, and cleaning protocols.

Celebrating with Kyrmen Rea!
We were blessed to have Kyrmen serve as our Student Minister and as our Minister of Visitation and Worship, and now we are blessed to be her primary sponsoring congregation for ordination into Christian ministry. Kyrmen’s ordination service will take place on Sunday, October 18th at 2:30 at Trafalgar Christian Church. As her primary sponsoring congregation, we will be presenting her with a gift that she can use in her ministry. If you would like to contribute towards her gift, please send a check to Tapestry Church, 1001 N.
